Avoid the fast-food track to liver damage

Avoid the fast-food track to liver damageEating takeaways regularly can damage your liver in much the same way alcohol does, say researchers in Sweden.
You may remember Morgan Spurlock, the star of the film Super Size Me, conducted his own research on the damage fast food can cause by eating only fast food for 30 days and documenting the changes to his body. These researchers have confirmed his findings with their study of healthy non-obese people who ate at least two fast-food meals a day for four weeks. Within a week there was a sharp increase in liver enzymes such as alanine aminotransferase (ALT). Rises in ALT, which are indicative of liver damage, were once only seen in alcoholics. The moral of this story? Keep your takeaway intake nice and low – even when it’s the holiday season
